A Note From Chris

Hi,

Over the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of work on testing headlines and adverts for our new lingerie business on Google Adwords. Today, I am going to show you how you can test your headlines using this tool for a lot less than normal paper advertisements.

If you have taken the time to read the Action Coach books from last week, one of the activities Brad Sugars recommends before writing your Yellow Pages headlines or newspaper headlines for your major adverts is to test them in the classifieds section as single line ads.  He recommends that you then see which one provides the best response.

I have a better way and its called Google Adwords.

What google adwords allows you to do, is to inexpensively test headlines before implementing them into your advertising.  We have been doing this to see exactly how they will perform.

Let me give you to sample ads we have been testing -

  Advert 1: Naughty Nurse Costumes
                 Nurse Costumes discretely delivered
                 in our signature Gold Boxes
                 Dreamy.com.au

  Advert 2: Naughty Nurse Costumes
                 Nurse Costumes delivered home
                 in our signature Gold Boxes
                 Dreamy.com.au

So which advert do you think performed
  the best???

Well surprisingly enough it was advert 1.  It had a 15% click-through-rate (or enquiry rate) compared to Advert 2 which was at 2%

What this has told us is that when we are writing adverts for this business we need to include the word "discretely" in the ad as that is a trigger word (or as Dr Joe Vitale would say - Hypnotic Word) for these clients.

The cost of this exercise for 50 enquiries was $15.00.  This means when we develop our newspaper advertising to go after the traditional lingerie market we know one keyword that we must include to get a great response.

It doesn't matter what industry you are in, people will be searching for you on the internet.  I encourage you to use the internet to help you develop your advertising using traditional media.

The more my team and I have been doing this, the more successful our advertising has been in the traditional media.  We could never have run these tests in the traditional media, it would have been way to expensive.  For example a single line advert in the Bulletin would cost you around $40, so the test above would have cost eighty dollars.

Where as our online tests only cost $15.  Plus the bonus is, if just five of our enquiries convert to business (which I should say they have done) we will have made over $900 from that small investment.

  Pretty cool huh!

The idea of split testing was first introduced to me by Brad Sugars from Action Coach but Perry Marshall who has written the book "The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords" showed me how to use Googles advertising tool successfully for our business.  I have provided a link to where you can join his 5 day Home Self-Study Google Adwords course.

With the PDC now on the march for advertising for this years telephone book, I would encourage you to test your headlines before you sign off your advert for this year.

Well once again, have a great week and remember one thing Success is a Habit.

6 Power Networking Strategies - Stop Gumball Networking & Make Real Connections For Lasting Success

6 Power Networking Strategies - Stop Gumball Networking & Make Real Connections For Lasting Success
By Sue Clement

Are You a "Gumball Networker"? Gumball what? I'm sure you remember gumball machines, right? You put in a coin, turn the knob, and out pops a gumball. Well, if you go to networking events and expect to leave with a prospect or a client in your pocket, then you're being a "Gumball Networker."

I know we'd all love to gain clients everywhere we go, but the truth is, clients aren't gumballs. And attending a networking event isn't a guarantee that you'll walk away with new client. Instead, if you shift your focus to meeting people and to building relationships and alliances with them, you'll have much more success! Here are six power networking strategies to get you started:

1. Know lots of different people

The foundation for building a strong network is having many acquaintances. Because most of our close friends tend to know and do what we know and do, they offer few new contacts. By having a good proportion of acquaintances, you'll create a larger and more powerful network.

2. Make new friends and have fun

Masters at networking don't network - they make friends. The real gold lies in building relationships. And you better not approach it like a chore! Growing a network should be enjoyable. Of course, this means that you should look to connect with people you enjoy. As you get to know, like and trust each other, you'll build the basis of a lasting partnership that will be far more valuable than any quick sale every could have been.

3. Don't Sell

In fact, don't sell at all! The quickest way you'll fail with networking is if you mistake it for a sales opportunity. It's not. No one wants to have a brochure opened in their face or have products or services pitched at them.

So, even if you happen to come across someone who seems like an ideal client, someone who actually wants to find out more about your services, you'll have more success if you focus on building rapport first. Then schedule a follow-up appointment as a start to the sales process.

4. Attitude is everything

Learn to really enjoy networking as a business building experience. That way, you'll also be far more attractive to others and much more likely to draw them to you.

5. Think quality over quantity

Networking is not about joining or attending a dozen events or associations every month. Instead, just pick a few that you can commit to and attend faithfully. You almost can't help but build relationships and friendships as you go to the same meetings and see the same people again and again, just as long as you leave your sales pitch at home.

6. Be Patient

If you think this sounds like it's going to take some time, you're right. Yes, networking is a solid marketing strategy, but only if you do it the right way, by building relationships, and that will take time. Keep at it, though, by being consistent, and you'll find that relationship-focused networking will yield great results and much more business than gumball networking ever did.

Why You Should Protect Your Computer

By David Shpit

If you connect your computer to the internet in any way then it is critical that you maintain some form of protection software on your computer. If you have a broadband connection that is always on and open then you are especially at risk. There are many reasons why you should make sure your computer is protected while connected to the internet but there are a few core reasons that should convince you right away.

There are people out there that create software called malware. You may know it as spyware or pop up software. Malware can get loaded into your computer without your knowledge if you don't have the proper security software. Malware can lock up your computer and even cause you to have to re-format your hard drive and lose all of your information.

Malware can also be used to steal your personal information. There are forms of malware that can be loaded on your computer that will transmit your credit card information not only to the vendor you are buying from but also to the website of a criminal that is looking to steal your information and steal your identity. Without proper protection every transaction you do online could be at risk.

It takes months, and sometimes years, along with thousands of dollars to reclaim your identity from a thief. Not only that but you could be responsible for a portion of the debt that gets compiled in your name. So do the smart thing and protect your computer from hackers and criminals. Make sure that when you are surfing the internet you are doing so with peace of mind.
